The Sikh virtues
Sikhs also believe that, throughout their lives, people should develop different virtues through their actions. These virtues are important characteristics of a person that will help them reach mukti.
Sikhs must develop the virtues, which are:
- truth and truthful living
- compassion and patience
- contentment
- humility and self-control
- love
- wisdom and courage
Sikhs must additionally perform the three foundations of Sikhism, which are:
- meditating on Waheguru’s name (Nam Japna)
- earning an honest living (Kirat Karna)
- giving to charity and helping others (Wand Chakna)
Sikhs must also perform sewa, which is selfless service.
