Mannirmal Kaur currently serves as the Sikh Coalition’s Senior Federal Policy Manager. She was promoted to this position in May 2025, having originally joined the Sikh Coalition in July 2023 as Research and Policy Manager. In her role, she is responsible for driving the organization’s engagement on matters of federal policy, including advocacy work around legislation in the U.S. Congress, executive orders, agency-led policy guidance, and more.
Mannirmal is an admitted member of the North Carolina Bar. Prior to joining the Sikh Coalition, she was a Staff Attorney at Legal Aid of North Carolina, where she fought in and out of the courtroom to help low-income North Carolinians maintain their housing. She also interned for the American Civil Liberties Union’s Program on Freedom of Religion and Belief, where she conducted policy research to help the organization anticipate new legal challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mannirmal graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law as a Chancellor’s Scholar. As a law student, she was enrolled in the Critical Race Lawyering Civil Rights Clinic, and published an article on hate speech jurisprudence in the First Amendment Law Review. Before law school, Mannirmal obtained her bachelor’s degree in political science from North Carolina State University. She loves spending time with her family and reading as many fantasy and science fiction novels that she can get her hands on.
