Announcing: The Sikh Political Leadership Training Program

Dear Supporter Ji, 

As 2025 draws to a close, I am excited to announce that the Sikh Coalition isn’t just wrapping up our work for the year—we’re actually preparing to launch something new in January! To supercharge Sikh civic engagement and political representation across the United States, I am thrilled to be developing the Sikh Political Leadership Training Program—exactly the kind of exciting new project that is only possible with support of individuals like you.

The Sikh Political Leadership Training Program will be a comprehensive, non-partisan training program for Sikh individuals interested in running for elected office. Through the program, we seek to develop a pipeline of the next generation of Sikh leadership in the United States, with an immediate focus on individuals pursuing public service within the next two election cycles.

As a public official myself, I had a hard time getting started. Looking back, I know I would have benefitted from a judgement-free space to ask questions and a community of Sikhs to discuss tough issues and best practices with. Now, the Sikh Coalition will be translating more than 24 years of advocacy work, plus what we’ve learned from other Sikhs in public service, into this curriculum to help elevate more Sikhs across the country into all levels of government. 

My hope for this program is that public office can become approachable to everyone in the sangat—not least of all because we cannot influence policy change without individuals in our community wanting to run, win, and serve. 

Sangat Ji, the development of the Sikh Political Leadership Training Program is just one of many big steps the Sikh Coalition will be taking as we enter our 25th year. Programs like these, as well as all the other work our team does for the sangat, are achievable because of your dasvandh. If you support these kinds of efforts, I hope you are able to contribute any amount this giving season.
